Esmer Özkan Law is an Istanbul-based law firm founded by family members, specializing in litigation matters especially focused on criminal law and product liability cases. Esmer Özkan Law Office works closely with its clients to provide personalized, boutique and comprehensive services.
The collective experience of our founding members, Naci Özkan, Ulaş Özkan and Aslı Esmer Özkan and the valuable contribution of our academic counsels offer expert, focused and creative solutions to our clients.
Esmer Özkan Law provides a comprehensive legal consultancy service to clients in various sectors, domestic and international companies, including litigation. It operates in many different areas of law, including Criminal Law, Civil Law, Labor Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, and Contracts Law.

Our Team
Att. Naci Özkan
He began his education at Istanbul University Faculty of Law in 1978, graduated in 1982, and joined the Istanbul Bar Association in 1983. Since then, he has been practicing law affiliated with the Istanbul Bar Association. He provides consultation to our law office, especially regarding case tracking, in which he has gained experience over many years and in various fields.
Att. Ulaş Özkan
He graduated from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law in 2011. From the early years of his legal career, he provided legal consultancy services to prestigious clients operating in the automotive, fast-moving consumer goods, and manufacturing sectors, and represented them in civil and criminal litigations. He was involved in every stage of civil and criminal litigations, especially in white-collar crimes, product liability, commercial disputes, as well as disputes arising from family and inheritance law, and resolving companies’ disputes related to tax, customs, and labor law. He served as an instructor at the Istanbul Bar Association Internship Training Center during the 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 periods.
He is a member of the Turkish Criminal Law Association and the International Criminal Law Association and has been serving on the board of the Turkish Criminal Law Association since 2018. He continues his master’s education in Public Law at Galatasaray University.

Att. Aslı Esmer Özkan
Aslı Esmer Özkan completed her education first at Notre Dame de Sion French High School and later at Galatasaray University Faculty of Law. After graduating from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law, she completed her legal internship and joined the Istanbul Bar Association in 2013.
Aslı specialized in international arbitration (ICC, ICSID, etc.), corporate law, and commercial law, especially offering consultancy on international arbitration and company establishment processes and representing parties in large-scale arbitration lawsuits in one of Turkey’s leading law firms. Later in her career, she served as a legal consultant within the internal legal department of one of the country’s most established construction companies. In this capacity, she gained experience in labor law, corporate law, construction law, and commercial law. Aslı then worked as manager in one of the world’s major tax audit firms, providing legal consultancy services on compliance processes, corporate governance, labor law, and more to various domestic and international companies and took part in M&A projects as team leader.
Aslı continues to provide consultancy to various domestic and international companies in different sectors. She is currently pursuing her master’s education in Private Law at Istanbul Bilgi University.

Prof. Dr. Aslı Makaracı (Counsel)
Aslı Makaracı first completed her education at Galatasaray High School and then in 2000 at Galatasaray University Faculty of Law. After graduating from Galatasaray University Faculty of Law, she completed her legal internship and joined the Istanbul Bar Association in 2001. She earned her LLM in Private Law from Galatasaray University Institute of Social Sciences in 2003 and her LLB in Private Law in 2008.
Makaracı started working as a research assistant in the Civil Law Department of Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Law in 2009. She became an Assistant Professor in 2009 and an Associate Professor in the field of Civil Law in 2015. In 2021, she was granted the title of Professor in the field of Civil Law.
Professor Makaracı specializes in all areas of civil law, particularly in property law, contracts, and family law, and has published books and articles on these subjects.

Dr. Sinan Altunç (Counsel)
Sinan Altunç completed his middle school and high school education at Saint-Joseph French High School. In 1996, he enrolled at Galatasaray University Faculty of Law and completed his undergraduate studies in 2001. Subsequently, he completed his LLM in Public Law with a thesis titled “The Right to Response and Correction” in 2004 at the same university. In 2010, he obtained his LLB in Public Law with a thesis titled “Recidivism in Criminal Law.”
Since 2003, Sinan Altunç has been working at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Law. He served as a research assistant in the Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure Law Department until 2011 when he was appointed as a faculty member. Since 2011, he has also held the position of Deputy Dean at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Law. In addition to his graduate theses, he has co-authored with distinguished criminal law academicians in the “Special Criminal Law” series, which was published in 11 volumes under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Köksal Bayraktar. Furthermore, he has academic publications in various law journals and has presented at scientific conferences on different occasions.

Att. Ahmet Hakan Ulutaş
He studied at Bilgi University Faculty of Law and graduated in 2023 as a full-tuition scholarship recipient. During his student years, he participated in internship programs where he worked on corporate law, particularly focusing on startups, inheritance law, enforcement law, rental law, and labor law.
